Uses of the Subjunctive Tense in Spanish
- Used after a verb that expresses some kind of wish, insistence, preference, suggestion, or request.
Example: I want Mary to do it. - Used after a verb that expresses doubt, fear, joy, hope, sorrow, or some other emotion.
Example: I doubt that Mary will do it. - Used after certain impersonal expressions that show necessity, doubt, regret, importance, urgency, or possibility.
Example: It is necessary for Mary to do it.
